Natalie PortmanNatalie Portman:

   The brown-haired, brown-eyed talent was born on Tuesday, June 9, 1981 in Jerusalem, Israel where she kept residence with her parents (her father is a doctor and her mother an artist) until she was three years old. Due to her father's medical training and career advancements, Natalie and her family moved to Washington D.C. then on to Conneticut when she was seven years of age, only to move again to Long Island, New York when she was nine, where her family currently resides.
   At the age of eleven years old, Natalie Portman was approached, in a local Long Island pizza parlor, by a Revlon modeling scout which lead her to her highly praised film debut in The Professional (Leon). The roles that followed The Professional, Natalie portrayed the characters as intelligent and wise-beyond-their-years. However, acting isn't her only talent. With many awards received at her graduation from Long Island High School and straight-A's since grade school, it's no wonder that the young actress, fluent in English, Hebrew, French, and Japanese, now attends Harvard, majoring in Psychology.

Tidbits: "Portman; stage name, which happens to be her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Reportedly first adopted because of fears she would discredit her parents in case her performance in The Professionnal was unsatisfactory. She has since kept the name in order to help maintain her privacy and to keep her family out of the spotlight. She does use her real name in school however."
